Now that over-the-counter hearing aids are an officially FDA-codified device, it’s the ideal time to discuss why and how OTC devices can be successfully integrated into clinical practice. This one-hour course is divided into two sections. Part 1 reviews how OTC devices differ from prescription hearing aids, direct-to-consumer (DTC), and personal sound amplification products (PSAPs). It also reviews three different approaches to the self-fitting process. Part 2 offers ideas, based on the most current published evidence, on how challenges and threats to existing business models can be best avoided.
